Jeroen is a Machine Learning Engineer at Xebia Data. He holds a MSc degree in Data Science from the University of Groningen with Honors and has been involved in Software Development for many years. Jeroen sold his first software when he was 15, and started a freelance Web Development company a year later.
Jeroen worked as a Web Developer for several start-up companies, in Arnhem, Groningen and Berlin. Jeroen learned to work in a fast-paced environment, where iterations are quick due to the use of agile/scrum methodologies.
Whilst working on his Master Data Science, Jeroen worked on Machine Learning and Big Data related projects. Jeroen worked with Machine Learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch and Sklearn, and has lots of experience in data processing libraries in Python such as Pandas and Numpy. Jeroen also worked with Big Data processing technologies such as Spark and Kafka.
Besides his usual work, Jeroen has been active in the Open Source community. Jeroen published several PyPi modules, npm modules, and has contributed to several large open source projects (Hydra from Facebook and Emberfire from Google). Jeroen also authored two chrome extensions, which are published on the web store.
Jeroen calls himself a ‘social nerd’, and is always committed to clear and smooth communication. He positions himself well in diverse or multidisciplinary teams.
